Gamma limit of BMO-type functionals and anisotropic total variation
Abstract: We investigate the asymptotic behavior, in the sense of $\Gamma$-convergence, of a class of BMO-type functionals. Our main result establishes that, as the localization parameter tends to zero, these functionals $\Gamma$-convergence to an anisotropic total variation functional defined on the space of functions of bounded variation. As an application, we study a variational model arising in image processing, in which a formulation based on neighborhood filters is proposed and its asymptotic behavior is thoroughly analyzed.
